Go For It!

If you feel God has put a desire in your heart, He wants you to make moves. Stop doubting and go for it! God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called! ~ author unknown ~

Just because we feel inadequate or for whatever the reason might be doesn’t mean we shouldn’t follow our dreams and the desires God has put in our hearts. I would rather hear a no than to wonder what would have happened if I had just stepped out on faith. It might be scary to step out of our comfort zone but the feeling of letting go and trusting in God and believing in yourself is an amazing feeling! I’m so glad for the times I stepped out no matter how scared I was and did it anyway. It’s pretty amazing what God is so willing to help us with if we will just try. He will equip us with whatever we need!

Early mornings are my favorite time of the day.  This morning was no exception as I sat in my favorite spot looking out the window sipping my coffee quietly talking to God.  There’s no better way to start the day.  I started thinking about one of my favorite quotes that I’ve posted before, “Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.”  I don’t know if this means as much to you as it does to me, but this is one of my favorite quotes.  I had such a beautiful day with my two oldest daughters Saturday as we met for coffee at one of our favorite coffee shops (and of course a little shopping).  I can’t  even begin to tell you the love and respect I have for these two.  It was so apparent the condition of their heart from their conversation and my heart was full of such pride and admiration.    The heart is where it all starts and I want to always be mindful and have a heart so full of love and respect for God that is apparent to my children and others around me.  Think about what we are projecting to the world around us.  What does our heart tell others about us?  My girls probably have no clue how happy my heart was listening to them talk among themselves while we were together Saturday.  There was such love and respect that can only come from a heart of love.  Remember the saying, “Birds of a feather flock together?”  I want to stick with the happy flock with hearts full of love and contentment.  Life is too short to live unhappy with a heart full of bitterness.  I challenge everyone who reads this to search your heart and let those around you feel the love only God can give.  Imagine our world if we all really took this to heart and treated others as we want to be treated, with love and respect.   I love the thought!

It’s all part of a plan

I have started the new year off with a long list of things I want to get done.  Will I succeed?  We will see!  I use to think that everything had to be done now, but I learned a very important lesson on this.  It all has to start somewhere and daily consistency is key.  I just had this conversation with one of my girls the other day about how taking that first step is the most important. Don’t get me wrong, finishing something I started brings me great joy and ultimately what I worked towards from the beginning.  I’ve been a dreamer most of my life and I’m pretty sure my Dad is to blame.  If there’s one thing I learned from him, is that hard work pays off.  Dreams do become plans and plans become reality.  People look at me funny when I say “ I love to clean and organize”.  Having a organized home has always been my dream, but that dream has to become a plan in order to get it done.  Just as with anything in life I don’t want my life to always be a dream, it needs to become a plan.  I’ve had this conversation with my girls and also two very dear friends already this year and it’s so apparent we all have dreams.  It’s so exciting to take a dream, form a plan and start.  Sound simple? Not always, but just to be able to dream a plan and work every day towards that goal is so important.  I’m going to go ahead and let you in on a plan I have in place for this year.  Most of you who know me know I have a booth in a antique mall close to me.  I love this place and have not kept it up as I would like to because of our busy life.  No excuse!  My youngest daughter Hannah and I took a load to the booth the first week of this month and as we were leaving I told Hannah that we will do our best to take a load in at least once a week this year.  So far, so good!  My booth looks so much better full of all the goodies we took in.  I took in a table that needs a lot of love and the girl at the counter said she couldn’t wait to see what I brought in because my stuff flys out the door!  That boosted my confidence level and made me realize my plan is working!  Everyone’s dreams are different.  Weight loss, pay off bills, remodel your home, pray and read your bible more.  The list goes on and on, but one thing is for sure, In order to see results our dream has to become a plan in order to become a reality.  Knowing I have a plan in place thrills me more than anything!  I’m sure you noticed another plan I need to work on?? This blog you are reading.  I haven’t blogged since May!!  My dream of starting a blog, became a plan and that plan is still in place even with the break in between.  Go out and put your dreams in place with a plan.  Life is beautiful and having a plan in place motivates me every day! Happy 2018!

Sitting on the front porch swing enjoying my morning cup of coffee thinking about the word progress. It has such meaning that I’ve never thought about as I do now.  I look across the field at a family members house being built.  The workers are  bustling around, the noisy sound of drills and hammers, to me it’s exciting knowing progress is being made and soon they will be enjoying coffee on their beautiful front porch.  The sound of a distant chainsaw always takes my mind to fire wood being cut and ready for beautiful fall crisp evenings. I love the sound of the washer and dryer going in my laundry room, our clothes in the progress of being fresh and clean again.  The dishwasher in the kitchen, a vacuum going upstairs as the kids clean their rooms, even the sound of a lawn mower. All sounds of progress.  Our faith is a journey that is progress daily.  I think about healthy lifestyle and eating that takes being consistent and progress to reach our goals.  Our daughter Brianna is getting married the end of the month here at our home and in order to make this the beautiful wedding she deserves there is much to be done and progress is being made to reach our goal for her big day!  Without progress we would never reach a goal, finish a project or get anything done.  I have to be truthful about myself, if I could get everything done in a day it would make me quite happy, but I’ve learned the older I get some things take time and even slow progress is still getting the job done and sometimes turns out better than rushing through it.  Speaking of progress, if I sit here much longer I’ll talk myself out of cleaning the garage today!  No progress, no clean garage!  Have a beautiful day and remember as long as progress is being made it’s a good day and things will get done!

Keeping Life Simple

Keeping life simple is a bit difficult at times, but oh so worth it!  Do I have it mastered? No, but making conscious efforts daily to keep it simple is what I strive for!   I have a dear friend who owns an adorable shop downtown called “It’s The Little Things” and every time you walk in there you get the sense of calm and everything beautiful and leave thinking “it truly is the little things!”  ( although there are some big beautiful things in there that have somehow made it home with me!)  I was washing the breakfast dishes this morning and opened the kitchen window to let some fresh air in and as the wind blew in I said “Lord, thank you for the beautiful breeze.” This might sound simple but that breeze made my dish washing much more enjoyable!  To top it off it’s my kind of day, overcast and cozy, so it’s all around beautiful!  The office this afternoon might not prove to be so simple, but I’m going to try!  My Pandora Frank Sinatra radio will sure help!  We are doing a series at church on the book What On Earth Am I Here For? From the first page it is beautiful and just what I need.  One of the first things that stood out to me is, It all starts with God. I personally feel to keep our life simple it has to start with Him, everyday. I enjoy my quiet mornings talking to Him and am confident that He knows what’s best for me daily. I saw a post from my sweet Brianna this morning, ” coffee and Jesus.” Beautiful start to every day I say!  For those of you who don’t care for coffee try a hot cup of tea, it works too! My day is off to a good start! Prayer, coffee, blog just about done and I’m off for the day! Have a beautiful day everyone and know we are all in this together and prayer is the key to a beautiful simple life!

Happy New Year!

I know I’m a little late, but as my mother always says, “better late than never!”  I absolutely love the holidays, but I have to say it’s been a blessing just to be able to sit quietly  (without rushing) in the mornings with a cup of coffee by my favorite window in the living room and thank God for all our blessings in life.  I know we all get so caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle of life that we don’t take the time we need for ourselves which is so important.  I use to think it was selfish to take time for myself and it was always about my family and others to the point I was really no good to myself so how in the world could I be what I needed to be for my family and others?  God has helped me to put things in perspective and oh my, what a beautiful thing!  I can’t do it all and have learned not to overload my plate and it’s ok to say no.  I have blogged about this in an earlier blog but it sometimes takes a while for me to really get it!  I love quotes and love sharing them with you, so my quote for today is…

~ Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life.  Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.   ~ it’s a lovely life~

Take time for yourself, love yourself and you will be amazed at the results! We can never love others if we don’t truly love who we are.

Tip for the day:  Start each day with gratitude!

Hello October!

I love every season, but Fall has to be my favorite!  Our October started out a beautiful 59 degrees  as we set up for our multi family yard sale! We might not have made all the money we would have liked, but our fun family time was worth getting up for!  With the yard sale done, paint drying on a few projects, the kids outside playing I sat down to blog as the front door opened and there stood the children with a very excited  ” can we please have a bonfire tonight with s’mores?”  My response was, “I have so much to do!” It didn’t take but a second to realize the things I think are so pressing can wait!  Needless to say they are pretty excited about our fun tonight!  I really can’t think of a better way to start October!  I have a saying on my Fall board on Pinterest that pretty much says how I feel ~ Hello Autumn~  Warm blankets, lovely cups of tea, hot chocolate, rainy mornings, boots, cute fluffy clothes, sweaters, hugs to keep me warm, extremely beautiful parks, views, weather that allows me to go outside~  As my sweet grand baby would say, ” it’s cozy!”  Happy Fall to everyone!  Time for S’mores!

Happy Mother’s Day

This has been a week full of beautiful memories and more to come as my daughter’s and I have a fun weekend getaway in beautiful Charleston, then ending the week spending time with my dear mother and mother n’ law.  My youngest daughter and I  had  two Mother’s Day Tea to attend this week and as I was playing the piano I couldn’t help but watch my Hannah and the glow on her smiling little face as she served them tea. My thoughts were that she was being blessed while blessing others and that’s what its all about.   I thought about the  beautiful mother God gave me and the life she has lived before us children.  She will never  know the impact she has had on my life and how I pray I can be half the woman she is. I love her dearly!  Another beautiful memory this week was singing with two of my  beautiful daughter’s last Sunday who are now the most amazing mothers and truly a blessing  to me.  Having my dearest sister n’ law Frankie sitting in the congregation was another beautiful blessing!   I had no clue my oldest son would be there and I can’t tell you the joy in my heart when I turned around and saw him sitting beside his little brother!  I told him he made my year not just my day!  It’s not often I have all five there, so Sunday  was more than special!   There is no greater joy in my life than to be their mother.                ~ Happy Mother’s Day ~

~Your past is a blessing that helped build you so don’t let the enemy make it a weapon to destroy  you~

I love this and had to share it as it was shared with me today.   Life is beautiful even with its ups and downs and this quote made me realize that we are living every day “a soon to be past” so with that in mind I am doing my best to live each day to the fullest.  I was so blessed Easter Sunday to have all 6 grands in church with me.  I can’t even begin to tell you the joy I felt as I watched my daughters walk in with the sweetest grandchildren this Nannah could ask for!  This is a memory I will forever cherish!  Enjoy this gorgeous Spring season and remember to make every day count!
