Keeping life simple is a bit difficult at times, but oh so worth it! Do I have it mastered? No, but making conscious efforts daily to keep it simple is what I strive for! I have a dear friend who owns an adorable shop downtown called “It’s The Little Things” and every time you walk in there you get the sense of calm and everything beautiful and leave thinking “it truly is the little things!” ( although there are some big beautiful things in there that have somehow made it home with me!) I was washing the breakfast dishes this morning and opened the kitchen window to let some fresh air in and as the wind blew in I said “Lord, thank you for the beautiful breeze.” This might sound simple but that breeze made my dish washing much more enjoyable! To top it off it’s my kind of day, overcast and cozy, so it’s all around beautiful! The office this afternoon might not prove to be so simple, but I’m going to try! My Pandora Frank Sinatra radio will sure help! We are doing a series at church on the book What On Earth Am I Here For? From the first page it is beautiful and just what I need. One of the first things that stood out to me is, It all starts with God. I personally feel to keep our life simple it has to start with Him, everyday. I enjoy my quiet mornings talking to Him and am confident that He knows what’s best for me daily. I saw a post from my sweet Brianna this morning, ” coffee and Jesus.” Beautiful start to every day I say! For those of you who don’t care for coffee try a hot cup of tea, it works too! My day is off to a good start! Prayer, coffee, blog just about done and I’m off for the day! Have a beautiful day everyone and know we are all in this together and prayer is the key to a beautiful simple life!
I know I’m a little late, but as my mother always says, “better late than never!” I absolutely love the holidays, but I have to say it’s been a blessing just to be able to sit quietly (without rushing) in the mornings with a cup of coffee by my favorite window in the living room and thank God for all our blessings in life. I know we all get so caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle of life that we don’t take the time we need for ourselves which is so important. I use to think it was selfish to take time for myself and it was always about my family and others to the point I was really no good to myself so how in the world could I be what I needed to be for my family and others? God has helped me to put things in perspective and oh my, what a beautiful thing! I can’t do it all and have learned not to overload my plate and it’s ok to say no. I have blogged about this in an earlier blog but it sometimes takes a while for me to really get it! I love quotes and love sharing them with you, so my quote for today is…
~ Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now. ~ it’s a lovely life~
Take time for yourself, love yourself and you will be amazed at the results! We can never love others if we don’t truly love who we are.
Tip for the day: Start each day with gratitude!
I love every season, but Fall has to be my favorite! Our October started out a beautiful 59 degrees as we set up for our multi family yard sale! We might not have made all the money we would have liked, but our fun family time was worth getting up for! With the yard sale done, paint drying on a few projects, the kids outside playing I sat down to blog as the front door opened and there stood the children with a very excited ” can we please have a bonfire tonight with s’mores?” My response was, “I have so much to do!” It didn’t take but a second to realize the things I think are so pressing can wait! Needless to say they are pretty excited about our fun tonight! I really can’t think of a better way to start October! I have a saying on my Fall board on Pinterest that pretty much says how I feel ~ Hello Autumn~ Warm blankets, lovely cups of tea, hot chocolate, rainy mornings, boots, cute fluffy clothes, sweaters, hugs to keep me warm, extremely beautiful parks, views, weather that allows me to go outside~ As my sweet grand baby would say, ” it’s cozy!” Happy Fall to everyone! Time for S’mores!
This has been a week full of beautiful memories and more to come as my daughter’s and I have a fun weekend getaway in beautiful Charleston, then ending the week spending time with my dear mother and mother n’ law. My youngest daughter and I had two Mother’s Day Tea to attend this week and as I was playing the piano I couldn’t help but watch my Hannah, and the glow on her smiling little face as she served them tea. My thoughts were that she was being blessed while blessing others and that’s what its all about. I thought about the beautiful mother God gave me and the life she has lived before us children. She will never know the impact she has had on my life and how I pray I can be half the woman she is. I love her dearly! Another beautiful memory this week was singing with two of my beautiful daughter’s last Sunday who are now the most amazing mothers and truly a blessing to me. Having my dearest sister n’ law Frankie sitting in the congregation was another beautiful blessing! I had no clue my oldest son would be there and I can’t tell you the joy in my heart when I turned around and saw him sitting beside his little brother! I told him he made my year not just my day! It’s not often I have all five there, so Sunday was more than special! There is no greater joy in my life than to be their mother. ~ Happy Mother’s Day ~
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

~Your past is a blessing that helped build you so don’t let the enemy make it a weapon to destroy you~
I love this and had to share it as it was shared with me today. Life is beautiful even with its ups and downs and this quote made me realize that we are living every day “a soon to be past” so with that in mind I am doing my best to live each day to the fullest. I was so blessed Easter Sunday to have all 6 grands in church with me. I can’t even begin to tell you the joy I felt as I watched my daughters walk in with the sweetest grandchildren this Nannah could ask for! This is a memory I will forever cherish! Enjoy this gorgeous Spring season and remember to make every day count!
My heart has been so heavy since hearing of the passing of our dear friends daughter Rachel. I can’t imagine what this family is going through, but know God will be there with them through the days ahead and we have comfort in knowing she is suffering no more and in the arms of Jesus. Rachel has the most amazing parents I know of and was so blessed with such love for God and each other. This has once again made me realize the gift of life and how precious it is. I look back over the weekend that I spent with my children and thought about our Saturday night in the media room watching Hallmark with All 5 and my sweet granddaughter right in the middle! I don’t ever want to take those times for granted and cherish every moment with them. Cherish each day we have on this earth. Be loving, kind, compassionate and forgiving. My prayer today is for comfort and strength for the DiStefano family for the days ahead.
I love it when your little one says, “Mom, when you learn something, you get it!” I am so glad she has that kind of faith in me because some days I don’t. I’ve learned some valuable lessons this busy season from my children that love their mother unconditionally. I’ve tried to cram so much in this Holiday season doing fun things with them when all the while they are just as content to be at home all cozy in the media room watching Hallmark. I realized this when my son said “Mom, I’m tired of traveling.” I’ve learned that we can be so busy trying to make memories that we are missing whats really important. So my sweet Hannah, I did “get it” this time and can’t wait to do our favorite thing and watch another Hallmark Christmas movie tonight and Landon, just one more quick trip to see Nona! ~ It’s the little memories that will last a lifetime ~
From our family to yours~ Merry Christmas!
We started a new tradition this year to visit Biltmore over the Thanksgiving weekend and I’m enjoying the gorgeous ride to Asheville! The car is full of excitement with Christmas music on the radio being drowned by Hannah’s Dennis the Mennis movie! Makes me happy!! I’m especially excited because my sweet mom and brother are meeting us! The little ones are so happy because I’m finally keeping a promise to them to see Biltmore all decorated for Christmas! I am so thankful to be able to enjoy this weekend with my children and thank God for blessing me with them! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I am a lover of rain, but waking up to a thunder storm this morning in an already flooded state was probably not the best feeling. As I watched the torrents of rain all I could think was God knows and is in control. The antique mall where our little shop is, was flooded last week and as my daughter and I were carrying out a lot of damaged goods I looked around at all the volunteers working so hard to clean up the mess and not a one had a gloomy look, in fact, they were talking and laughing in spite of the disaster the rain has left on our sweet antique mall. I think of those who lost their homes, families of lives who have been lost and pray for them everyday. Our state has a mess to deal with but I know with God’s help we will pull through just fine! Today is very special day for one happy little girl, my sweet Hannah! She turns 10 today! “Happy Birthday” my baby girl, “I love you to the moon and back!”
